I understand the points & drops. But there ought to be something in it for those that do show up each week ( rain or shine). If you call the track about iminate weather, they always tell you come on down that they're racing - then you drive an hour to get there, just to sit around till you finely decide to call it off. This has happened more than once or twice this year. Lots of racers just stay at home hoping they won't race. Most of the time we don't, but there have been 1 or 2 that we did run. I guess everyone should take notice & just stay at home from now on when rain is in the forecast? It does no good to show up, because that will probably be dropped from your points. All you've done was waste time & alot of money for fuel. The track should be more considerate of the racers!! In my opinoin, there should be NO DROPS. If you're going to run for a championship at a certain track, then you need to make that commitment to race every points race on the schedule. There are off weeks ( non -points races ) that they should plan family outings & other things for. I think that would settle everything & reward those that do show up every week.

Have you ever had a kid in the hospital or a death in the family thats why the points are set up this way. IHRA NHRA and any other points system that I have run usually have some kind of drop system put in just in case you can't be there . Some things are more important than racing .But if I can Ill be there trying to put up a big number so I can drop one of my many small numbers. '

I have raced for 30+ years in NHRA and IHRA. This is the first time racing for points in N.C. I RACED IN fl. DIV 2 for ever and never had drops.If you had to buy back you didn't get anymore points you just ran for the money. I can see both sides of each argument. Kind of like the drops. what I don't like is if you buy back in 1st or 2nd round you shouldn't get any more points. I'm stooting myself cause I've bought back a few times myself.

I help a friend now; but when I raced there were no buy backs. It's all about the money now. Kind of like the buy backs, but agree about there should be no more points awarded. Our points leader in Top got beat on a holeshot in 1st rd. a couple weeks ago & went on to win - I know he probably disagrees - I guess it's according to what side of the fence your own. At least it's the same for all - unlike the points drop, where some are dropping 0's, others are acually dropping real numbers ( probably 3 ). It's the only sport I know of, where you race to get points only to have them taken away. Go figure that. Good luck all.

You think they would award you for showing up to all the races...

I think the word drop is the problem IHRA uses the word earned page 114 (Points will be earned from your best 5 finishes at a maximum of 8 events) witch means you drop 3 races if you attend 8.I think that most tracks have some sort of drops or number of races you can claim. Run all the races you can and claim the biggest numbers you can post. As for buy backs i have run it both ways doesn't matter to me just do it the same every race like Tony has done this year. Look at the points money this year no other track can come close to the payout we are running for !!!!!!!!

Not beening awarded for beening there to all the races is like slapping the hands that help feeds you... And the PTRA rewards you 30 points for coming to all the race.. Tony gives you the incentive to come to all.. He give ya apple pie and ice cream (30 points) for coming to all them.. What does PBM stand for? I kept hearing it yall say it and couldn't find nothing on the website about it... That's my 2 cents

I agree with you jparker u think they would take care of the people that pay there money to race. with the big payout goin on for the points, there are people moving down in the points that have showed up every race puttin us farther away from the money. the races that people are droppin are the ones that got rained out. The people that got zeros where the ones who didnt show up cause the rain. they should just drop them completly.

You think they would award you for showing up to all the races... I think they should award the driver with the most wins in a season!!!

How about points for the driver thats given the finish line back the most and over dial by 2 Sometimes my mind thinks my skills are better than they are. Forgets to factor in old age....

Doug, you will always have me by a year or two, no matter how hard I try to catch up.
Kurt, you will have to get another wall for all the plaques from Mooresville and the PTRA......

On a serious note, I will look into a new system for next year that will reward racers for making all the races. Very few racers will commit to a track if they know they can't make all the races though. That is where the drops come into play. This format started in the 90's. I have been known to come up with something new a time or two. Give me some time to think over the winter.....

Let me say I have no illusions or never did about winning points. If I win a couple rounds I am happy.
With that being said, the committed need to understand the big picture. You must have participants for this to work.
the drop is a good thing. One of the races was scheduled on my daughters wedding, that was planned 18 months in advance.
If this had been a count them all from the begging. I would not participate.
When I was younger, I chased points 100%, my family paid for it. Now I look back at the things I gave up and in the end not worth it. FAMILY IS NEVER WORTH THE GAMBLE!
If the races were counted 100%, YOU THE DRIVERS WOULD NOT HAVE MY MONEY! Think about that, less drivers less purse!
====================================================================
The one thing that pisses me off is counting these incomplete races. I know the weather gods have not been kind. The race needs to be complete. If you get to 4 cars and the purse is paid, then it counts.
The races April 9th, May14th, June 11th were not points races. To count them makes a joke of the system. with races averaging 7 rounds, we have 20 rounds (min) of racing that were washed away.
There is no reason they could have not been rescheduled or raced on Sunday. IMHO
========================================================
If ya want to get mad about something, there needs to be a MIN ET for foot brake.
If your slower than 10 seconds you need to run street class.
All I ask for is a fair shake.
