Can"t believe what happen last night at the track. Don"t get it and don"t understand why somebody pulls a gun at a public event like this at Mooresville track my home track. I have never heard of somebody getting shot at a drag strip before maybe it happens other places but I have never heard of this before. I have been in disagreements before racing but never would I think that somebody would pull a gun. I hope this would be the end to this type of event, the grounds were a total pigsty after this event in years past. During the bracket racing season the track has never been left in such a disgrace as after Lees biker festival! Hope Jody thinks hard about letting this event comes back to ours track. It is not worth people getting shot over recklessness from one or more careless people! This is not the way to bring media attention to our track! Just my thoughts on a horrible act by a senseless person. I hope the injured people are ok. Gary C

This was a very tragic and unfortunate incident that happened near the end of the night. It was caused by some people that had just got there and it was over personal/domestic issues from what I was told. It had absolutely nothing to do with the racing on the track, the track itself, or even drag racing in general. You are right that it takes a crazy person to bring a gun out to a public event. There were some really good people at that event but it takes just a few bad ones to cause a problem. And you are also right about the media attention. I am sorry to the fans that were there and hope they will come back to a regular drag racing event. The really bad deal is that this could and does happen at places like shopping malls, movie parking lots, high school football games, etc. It is very jolting on the rare occurence that it happens so close to home.
